Notes from Bible Study Aug 21, 24:
1 Samuel 17 (David and Goliath),
Exploring what is courage and where does it stem from
Short Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ez_RnnIKC-c
I am not enough, because I don’t value self
Comparison is the thief of Joy
I am enough, I am worthy of love
memento mori - remember to die
I am human and I am above no one.
-------The idea that one side of the pocket watch represents David and the other Goliath--
Where does Courage stem from?
A time where you did have courage
A time where you didn’t have courage
What made each moment different? Why did you have courage in one instance and not another? (share)
Reasons for Differences?
Experience or Knowledge: You have more experience in one instance than another. You believe in yourself and your abilities.
Support aka external encouragement
Purpose: Life or Death, or just a simple motivator
Resilience or Being Stubborn: The Strength to go against something you have failed at before
What factors do you think gave David courage? (Experience) - He defeated Goliath with tools and skills he was familiar with and didn’t rely on items that were alien to him and that would reduce his courage.
(Purpose) - To win the war
(Resilience) - 40 days of courage
(Support) -God
