Questions that were asked:

  1. Would you rather have many casual friends or a few close friends?

  2. What do you have? Many casual friends, few close friends, or both?

  3. What is the difference between the two?

  4. Why do close friends seem more appealing?

Proverbs 18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

—----------------------------------------------

Key points:

  • Friendships as adults change.

  • Friendships may go in cycles between casual and close and casual again.

  • Casual friends normally are made through convenience and situational environments. Ie coworkers or classmates.

  • Close friends are made through common interests and like minded ideals.

  • Casual friends become close friends and close friends become casual friends. Based on the amount of effort and time you put into the relationship.

  • Just because close friends become casual friends does not mean they are bad people.

  • Friends sometimes change when different life events happen and when new people enter their lives.

  • This goes hand in hand with the idea that “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. By Jim Rohn.

  • The question now becomes what ideals, personality traits or interests are you pulling from your friends?

  • Also, what attributes have changed because of new people in your life?

  • As believers in Christ, my goal is that when you make friends that those attributes of your faith and your trust and your loyalty will get transferred to other people, even non believers.
